The Eumundi School of Music has been providing full scholarships to the most outstanding young musicians on the Sunshine Coast since Katie Noonan and co started the initiative in 2016.
With thanks to our primary supporters ECCO & EDCA, 250+ of the most talented young musicians in the Sunshine Coast Region have received scholarships with one-on-one lessons and intensive rehearsal workshopping with some of the finest musicians in Australia. For the last 5 years ESOM’s most outstanding teenage musicians have been undergoing extensive mentorships with National Jazz Award and ARIA Award winning musician Zac Hurren in his home studio, Zac Hurren's Rainbow Room. This mentorship has been sponsored by the awesome crew at The Imperial Hotel. Through these mentorships these brilliant young musicians have had the opportunity to learn and hone foundational lessons in creative musicianship.
At Eumundi School of Music, our vision is to be the premier music school in the region, known for our excellence in teaching, our innovative programmes, and our commitment to the community. We aim to inspire and empower a new generation of musicians and music lovers.
I was lucky enough to be chosen to be in one of the Eumundi School of Music bands. I had only done music lessons at school and a few small performances, but I love playing music so much that I auditioned and it was the best thing I ever did. Some of my favourite things about ESOM was being able to perform on a big stage with a bunch of kids that love music as much as me, and in particular, playing with an ARIA award winning musician was mind blowing. The ESOM teachers were always encouraging and really took the time to help me play the best I could. I have made new friends of all ages and some of them I still play music with. I wish there were more opportunities like this for young people that love playing music like me. ESOM was definitely the highlight of my year and I didn’t want it to end. It was the most favourite performance I have ever done. I wish ESOM went all year!

"My family and I have been involved in the school of rock for the last two years. In 2018 my youngest daughter was lucky enough to receive a Eumundi School of Rock Scholarship. These amazing tutors and mentors have inspired my daughter so much. Within the 10 weeks her confidence and abilities grew, blowing my mind to see my quiet, little, shy girl to have the confidence to get on stage, not only perform but entertain the crowd of 200 plus people. The end of year concert was phenomenal. Her enthusiasm has overflowed into our family and her group of friends who all tried out this year. A few years ago, my eldest daughter entered a singing competition but due to technical difficulties she was left hanging on stage which destroyed her confidence in performing or singing ever again. She even stopped singing around the house. After now being accepted in Eumundi School of Rock for 2019 she has started singing again. It is just so wonderful to be a part of this program and to have music back in our house."

"We’ve been so lucky to have 2 of our kids experience the ESOR phenomena. The Eumundi School of Rock has been a springboard to raising children’s confidence in music performance. Our kids already had a love for music, but they lacked confidence in performing in front of a crowd. The ESOR experience was a catalyst to our kids being awarded music scholarships at Sunshine Coast Grammar School. Since the ESOR they are now composing their own works and are regular buskers at the Eumundi Markets. Our family are extremely grateful to Katie Noonan for her vision and the ESOR community of volunteers and staff. Together they are creating transformative music opportunities for kids. The ESOR program is reflective of our community’s creative values and gives kids the lifelong joy of musicality. Thanks to ESOR, a community of kids have found their rock mojo!"

"As a parent who has now had two children participate in this fantastic program, I can not express what a fantastic opportunity this has been for them. They were allowed to experience and participate in a range of activities from lessons with seasoned performers, TV and radio interviews right through to the big finale of performing in a real Rock Concert! Both the girls loved every minute!"
